The NFL’s tag deadline day has passed, and seven pending free agents are no longer available on the open market. Unsurprisingly, the Cleveland Browns opted not to use a tag. A significant impact on NFL free agency occurred as six of the seven players were tagged with franchise designations:

– DE Josh Allen
– WR Michael Pittman
– DE Brian Burns
– DT Justin Madubuike
– CB Jaylon Johnson
– S Antoine Winfield
– S Kyle Dugger (Transition tag)

In addition to these, WR Tee Higgins and CB L’Jarius Sneed had been tagged earlier in the offseason, with both expected to be traded, though nothing is certain on that front.

Two other players, TE Dalton Schultz, and CB Emmanuel Moseley, will not enter free agency, as the Houston Texans signed Schultz to a three-year deal worth $36 million, and the Detroit Lions re-signed Moseley to a one-year deal.

Nine other players, who either signed significant deals or changed teams in recent free agency periods, will now join the free-agent market following reports of their releases today:

– S Jamal Adams
– S Quandre Diggs
– TE Will Dissly
– TE CJ Uzomah
– TE Hayden Hurst
– DT Rayshawn Jenkins
– CB Darious Williams
– LB Eric Kendricks
– LB Jerome Baker

With a few days left until legal tampering can begin, it is likely that more players will either return to their teams or be released before the 2024 league year officially starts.
