Christian Pulisic, known for his outstanding performances as a wide attacking player for AC Milan this season, might have an opportunity to showcase his skills as a No. 10 in the upcoming match. Milan is set to play against Lecce in a Serie A fixture at San Siro on Saturday, but their usual No. 10, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, will be suspended due to a yellow card received last weekend.

This situation presents a dilemma for head coach Stefano Pioli. With three highly performing attacking players—Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze, and Rafael Leão—Pioli is considering fitting them all into the lineup in Loftus-Cheek’s absence.

During the pre-match press conference, Pioli mentioned the possibility of deploying Pulisic as the No. 10 in his 4-2-3-1 formation, flanked by Chukwueze and Leão, with Olivier Giroud leading the attack.

Pioli stated, “It’s a solution we are evaluating,” regarding this setup.

Chukwueze, who faced challenges during his initial season at Milan after transferring from Villarreal, has begun to find his form in recent games.

Pioli expressed his satisfaction with Chukwueze’s progress, saying, “I am delighted with Chukwu… He is fit, physically and mentally, he must continue like this. He has important characteristics for the attack.”

In January, Pioli expressed his desire to experiment with Pulisic in the No. 10 role, but couldn’t do so due to Chukwueze’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.

It seems like Saturday’s match could provide the opportunity for Pulisic to make his debut for Milan as a trequartista, or No. 10.
