Rangers: Philippe Clement Discusses Borna Barisic’s Future Amid Ongoing Exit Speculation at Ibrox
The Croatian international, Borna Barisic, is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and has garnered interest from various foreign clubs. Despite being eligible to enter pre-contract negotiations with overseas teams, Philippe Clement, speaking to the Daily Record on February 17, stated that no decision has been made regarding Barisic’s future. Clement mentioned Barisic’s dedication in training and his eagerness to play, emphasizing that the player is recovering from an injury and will determine his next steps in the coming weeks.
Several clubs, including Roma, Dinamo Zagreb, and LaLiga teams, have been linked with Barisic, indicating a potential competitive market for his services in the summer transfer window. While there were earlier indications of a possible departure for the full-back in January, uncertainties surrounding Ridvan Yilmaz’s future influenced the decision.
With a potential move for Jefte in consideration for the end of the season, Rangers seem to be proactively working on securing a replacement. The status of Ridvan’s stay at Ibrox remains unclear, but the club appears to have contingency plans in place.
As Barisic gains more playing time and competes with Ridvan, Rangers are likely benefiting from the healthy competition between the two players. If these indeed turn out to be Barisic’s final months with Rangers, the club should aim to maximize his contributions before his official departure.
