In a recent interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum boldly claimed that he believes he is the best player in the NBA, despite acknowledging the talent of other stars in the league. Tatum mentioned players like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid, expressing respect for their accomplishments. However, he asserted his belief that every time he steps on the court, he considers himself the best player. Tatum’s confidence in his abilities comes amidst an impressive 2023-24 campaign, where he has been a key player for the Celtics, averaging 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Despite not being a top MVP candidate, Tatum’s leadership on a successful Celtics team adds weight to his claim as he aims to contribute to raising another championship banner at the TD Garden.
