Leeds United maintained pressure on Leicester and Ipswich by securing a victory against Hull on Monday night, with Dan James sealing the 3-1 win with a sensational long-range goal.

Daniel James confessed that he had never scored a goal quite like his remarkable 40-yard strike, which sealed a crucial 3-1 victory for Leeds United against Hull City.

James ensured all three points for Leeds in the dying moments of Monday night’s match at Elland Road. His goal came as a punishment for Hull’s goalkeeper, Ryan Allsop, who had ventured forward for an injury-time corner as Hull pushed for a late equalizer.

Following the game, James reflected on his decisive contribution and whether he had ever executed a similar strike in his career. He remarked, “No, definitely not. I noticed the goalkeeper coming up; it was during the second phase from a corner. Joel [Piroe] played me the ball.”

“I’ve attempted a few lobs on the keeper this season, but they haven’t quite come off. I decided to give it one more try, and from my perspective, I always felt it was going in. It was a fantastic feeling when it found the back of the net.”

The goal could serve as a significant confidence boost for James, especially considering his recent return from international duty, where his penalty shootout miss cost Wales a spot at Euro 2024 against Poland. Acknowledging the challenge of transitioning back to club football so swiftly after representing his country, the 26-year-old admitted, “It’s always challenging to come back from international duty.”
