The National Football League is entering a new era, presenting an opportunity for the Cleveland Browns to capitalize on. Fortunately, they possess one of the league’s top special teams units, led by highly regarded assistant coach and specialist, Bubba Ventrone

.Regrettably, the team no longer boasts a consistent kickoff threat akin to Josh Cribbs.

During an appearance on The Return With Josh & Maria Cribbs show, the former Browns star expressed his opinions regarding the new kickoff rule, as reported by The Return With Josh & Maria Cribbs on Twitter.

Shortly after explaining the new rule, he expressed confidence that he would have excelled under its provisions during his playing days—a sentiment many would agree with.

The rule’s primary aim is injury prevention, although injuries during kickoffs are relatively uncommon. Now, offensive players will have ample space to make significant gains in kick-off returns, given that only the kicker and the returner are allowed to move until the returner catches the ball or it touches the ground

Undoubtedly, this change will necessitate significant adjustments from special teams units, and innovative strategies will be essential moving forward.

As the rule was only approved for the upcoming season, there remains the possibility of reverting to the previous approach. Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to observe how teams adapt to this new dynamic.

Thankfully for the Browns, they won’t have to contend with formidable returners like Devin Hester or DeSean Jackson under these revised rules. Much like Cribbs, these players would have posed significant challenges for opposing teams.
