“Now a little person in my life that’s more important than tennis” admits Angelique Kerber ahead of Stuttgart return
The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix marks Angelique Kerber’s debut in a German tournament since becoming a mother to her daughter, Liana. Prior to this, she will be participating with Porsche Team Germany in the Billie Jean King Cup in Brazil. In a recent interview with the Porsche Newsroom, the Porsche brand ambassador discusses her return to professional tennis, the obstacles of balancing motherhood with the demands of the tour, and her excitement about competing once again at the Porsche Arena.
“The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix holds a unique allure for me. I sorely missed it last year. I have countless cherished memories of the tournament and eagerly anticipate showcasing my best tennis in front of the incredible fans at the Porsche Arena,” she expressed to Porsche.
However, before that, she is scheduled to compete in Brazil, a journey that entails a 12-hour flight. “In terms of travel stress, Brazil poses quite a challenge for us. But we must adopt a positive outlook and make the most of it. The real test will be the 12-hour return flight and then swiftly returning to the court just one or two days later at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. It’s going to be tough dealing with the time difference and jet lag. Nevertheless, who knows, maybe I’ll have a couple of strong matches on clay in São Paulo and arrive in Stuttgart riding a wave of confidence.”
