The Houston Texans have emerged as one of the most promising young teams in the NFL, surpassing expectations with a 10-7 regular-season record and a dominant 45-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Their offensive lineup boasts standout performers like quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Offensive Rookie of the Year, and wide receiver Nico Collins. Despite their offensive prowess, the Texans are looking to bolster their defensive unit.

In a recent announcement on Tuesday, the team revealed the signing of defensive end Marcus Haynes, as reported by ProFootballTalk. Haynes, who went undrafted last year, played his entire college career at Old Dominion University. Initially picked up by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent shortly after the draft, he found a place on their practice squad before being released later in the 2023 regular season, without making any game appearances.

While the Texans showcased a solid defensive performance this season, ranking first in passing touchdowns allowed, they recognize the need for additional support in certain defensive areas. Despite this, the Texans’ immediate future appears highly promising, and with a few more strategic acquisitions, they could position themselves as true contenders in the near future.
