Tony Mowbray is reportedly “getting stronger” following a health scare, according to information provided by a Birmingham assistant. The former Celtic and Hibs boss is said to be on the road to recovery.
Birmingham City’s head honcho, Tony Mowbray, is on the mend and “getting stronger” post a recent operation, according to his right-hand man, Mark Venus. The former Celtic and Hibs manager, who assumed his role at Birmingham just last month, temporarily stepped away from his coaching duties to address a health concern.
In a reassuring update delivered at a pre-match press conference ahead of Birmingham City’s Championship clash against Southampton, Venus shared, “I have had a chat with him every day to be honest. A little update: he’s had his surgery and everything’s fine. He’s getting stronger, so he is on the way back hopefully. I’m not saying immediately, but it’s been nice hearing him and chatting to him. It’s given us a bit of confidence.”
Venus didn’t keep the positive news to himself; he made sure to share the encouraging update with the players, keeping everyone in the loop about Mowbray’s recovery progress. Since stepping into the shoes of Wayne Rooney last month, Mowbray has notched up four wins, three losses, and a draw in eight games across all competitions. His most recent match in charge resulted in a 2-1 victory over Sunderland, the same club that had parted ways with him back in December. Interestingly, that triumph also prompted Sunderland to part company with former Rangers manager Michael Beale.
